Health Insurance

Affordable Health Insurance Choices

Lots of affordable health insurance plans offer a choice of many cheap schemes. To choose the best plan from all that are available, a general understanding about health insurance is important. For a detailed understanding of the plan, we need to find out how the insurance handles various medical processes such as physical examinations, health screenings, care by specialists, hospitalization, emergency care, prescription drugs, vision care, dental service, and services provided for drug and alcohol abuse. The cost of each plan depends on how much you have to pay for the health insurance premium and other costs.

There should not be any co-payments for the services provided by the health insurance company selected. Insurance holders should ensure whether the insurance plan covers all services and health care they need before taking the health insurance. Most affordable health insurance plans provide both individual and group health insurance. Individual health insurance plans may not offer as many benefits as group health insurance plans.

There are many affordable insurance plans provided by health insurance companies. Many aspects should be considered before comparing the plans such as service offered, choice of providers, location, and costs. The quality of the care provided by the insurance plan should be an important criterion. You can check out individual doctors and hospital facilities for all kinds of health insurance plans before purchasing the insurance.

To ensure the quality of medical care, one needs to ask the health insurance company how it assures good medical care. The survey results of health insurance plans also help you measure the quality services. Many affordable health insurance plans produce report cards that include the satisfaction survey results and other information on quality.

Shopping For a Family Health Plan

By
Our health is so important. It facilitates our ability to function optimally in the world. And as your family grows, you are likely concerned with making sure that they are all covered with affordable health insurance. There are some similarities between individual and family health insurance plans. As you begin to familiarize yourself with the process of obtaining an insurance plan, you will be sure to make the best selection for your entire family's needs.
As you begin to shop for a family health plan, take the following into consideration:
  1. Which type of health insurance are you searching for? Most families are searching for either a PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) or an HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) when shopping for a family health plan. Each of these plans offer different benefits, coverage amounts and price tags. Be sure to consider your family's needs, your current physician choices and your budget when deciding which type of plan is best for your family's health needs.
  2. Which health insurance features are the most important for your family? Do you want a large or a small deductible? Do you prefer a physician or prescription copayment or would you prefer to have the entire amount covered? Do you want to have the option to select out of network providers? Do you require prescription coverage? What coinsurance amount are you comfortable with? Coinsurance refers to the shared percentage between the insured and the health insurance company when it comes to certain medical expenses. For example, 80/20 coinsurance means that the carrier will cover 80% of the total costs of the procedure or procedures and the insured party will be required to cover the other 20%. Take time to think through these important health questions before you begin to shop for a family health plan.
  3. What coverage amounts are you searching for? Are you concerned with ongoing medical issues and expenses or are you primarily concerned with major medical expenses? What lifetime maximum amount are you comfortable with? The lifetime maximum refers to the amount per insured person that the health insurance company will cover over their lifetime. Once this amount is met, the insurance company will no longer cover any claims. What annual deductible amount can you afford to pay? Most professionals will advise you to select the highest deductible amount that you can afford as it will help to drive down your annual health insurance premium amounts.
Once you have reviewed your own personal answers to these questions, you are ready to shop for coverage. Be sure that you compare prices between 3-5 companies before making your selection. Once you have determined which health insurance company you would like to move forward with, there is typically an application process. Most health insurance companies will require you to complete a medical questionnaire as well as a physical so that they can make a decision about whether they will offer your family medical coverage or not.

Child Health

Child Health

Child Health In A Developing Country

As far as child heath is concerned, the present scenario of developing countries around the world is not very pleasant. Data shows, that every second a child in a developing country suffers from malnutrition, and almost 60,000 children are born with HIV every year. In some countries, even basic health care facility and health assurance seem to be a dream for majority of the population. It has been observed that children under the age of five face multiple obstacles, which include birth injuries, infectious diseases, malnutrition, home environment that lack intellectual stimulation, and an environment with polluted water and air. Neonatal mortality has persisted and currently 4 million deaths occur during the first month of birth.

A child's health primarily depends on the health condition of his or her mother. Nutrition intake during pregnancy, birth environment, and the overall health status of the mother influence the health of the child prior to, during and after birth. Mainly due to these factors, around 3 million infants are stillborn each year. Even though, globally, the rate of child death has reduced, there has been an uneven growth as well; child mortality rates either remain constant or increase across at least 17 developing countries. Some parts of Africa and

Asia have improved in this regard but some countries still lag behind in lowering child deaths.

About 3.6 million newborns die in the first month of birth during the neonatal period. The number of newborn deaths is approximately equivalent to the number of children born annually in the U.S. or in most of the developed countries of Europe. Neonatal deaths in developing countries comprise 41% of all child deaths in the world, among which more than half of neonatal deaths occur in countries like China, Pakistan, Nigeria,

Bangladesh and India. Primary reason behind these deaths are pneumonia, tetanus, malaria, measles, HIV/AIDS, diarrhea, birth asphyxia, prematurity and low birth weight, congenital conditions and malnutrition.

Reports show that 16% of children are born with a low birth weight each year. One in four of 600 million children in the world, under the age of five having a risk of death, live in a developing country, which is 20 times higher than in the U.S. Furthermore, millions of children suffer from diseases due to weakness, malnutrition and injuries that influence their well-being and options in life, like education and future economic prospects.
Around 6 million child deaths can be prevented every year, if inexpensive health interventions are provided to the mothers and children in need. Healthy and well-educated children contribute to the society, its economic growth and civil strength of a nation. So, it is necessary to provide every child with an environment and health care facility that would secure a better future for them and the society at large.

Governments of developing countries and some nonprofit organizations have taken the first step to make the necessary investments on childcare. However, such programs are vastly underfunded, limiting the services and materials required to provide these children with everything they need. Some highly effective and simple solutions provided by nonprofit organizations are helping to improve the condition of children living in developing countries to a significant level. These nonprofit organizations mainly target child health care by focusing on areas like nutrition, maternal health, gender empowerment for girls, infectious diseases education and environmental stability.

 Romance and Health

By

Isn't it wonderful to walk along a sunset boulevard full with flowers? Do we feel loved if we stroll beside a park full with flower box gardens? This romantic scenery is also possible at home. Some trowels, shovels, flowers and container boxes are our best friend if we plan to have a garden of love in our house. I think it will not be difficult to have one if we really want it. Who knows? Our better half might like it and will be really thrilled to have it added in your love cradle. I bet you have a great smile on your face while reading this. Well, everyone has their own way of making their relationships exciting. But to deal with flowers, there are so many benefits that we gain just to have this unique symbol of romance. It does not only stop at giving some bouquets of bloom to our loved ones, or spreading red rose petals on their pathways. It is the healthy lifestyle that we can achieve just to have it in our home.

Simple as it is, gardening, does not only give us an emotional satisfaction, but it also gives us a full body work out. Say, we are going to lift a twenty-pound flower box, then transfer it from your front yard to the backyard, which would be like 10-15 meters away. Wouldn't it be a good early morning exercise for you to do that? The entire activity is cardio exercise mixed with muscle toning. Another one would be shoveling. If we are to shovel holes it would be like another cardiovascular exercise mixed with some muscle training. Gardening is truly a great exercise not only for our body but also for our heart.

Did I say heart? Well, when we are stressed, there are lots of negative health conditions that we acquire like heart ailment. For us to take care of for our heart we need to manage our stress. And one of the best therapies is to have flowers and do gardening at home. Gardening is the key to a healthy life according to home and gardening enthusiasts. As mentioned, exercise is good for our health because it is the best way to relieve stress. Also flowers can make the saddest soul happy. By only gazing at the beautiful creation of God, our mood suddenly changes from hopeless to positive.

Indeed, flowers and gardening have great impact to us. People who lack garden at home miss half of their lives as an individual because even just a simple mini flower box can create positive changes to our lives. It can be a holistic positive change for our health as well as our romance. Putting flower and gardening together will give us happiness and to start now is a great idea.

Digestion

7 Steps to Boost Digestion and Stop the Bloating and Gas!

You've worked all day, you're starving and you can't wait to get home and eat. But when you're finished, you've got that painful, uncomfortable bloating and gas again! So what's going on? Probably just a little imbalance in your system.

The body is quite remarkable in the way it handles your food. Your digestive system breaks it down, extracts and distributes the nutrients and then discards the waste products. But if you upset the delicate acid/alkaline balance of your digestive tract, your body is going to let you know; hence the reason you feel uncomfortable after eating.

So what can you do? The following tips really helped me and should be helpful to you.

1. Chew your food at least 15-20 times before swallowing, the more the better. Your saliva is alkaline and it's the first step of the digestion process. Even if you are eating something like soup that doesn't require much chewing, still try to get some saliva mixed in before you swallow. This also forces you to eat slowly so you are not gulping down air.
2. It is best if you don't drink much with your meals. The liquids will only dilute the alkaline levels in your
mouth, thus preventing proper digestion.
3. Avoid chewing gum between meals. Chewing gum produces stomach acid that's not needed between meals. Adult acid levels start decreasing at around 38-40 years of age which results in digestive problems as we age. Limit your gum chewing to right before or right after a meal. Chew gum made from xylitol (natural sweetener); it will stimulate saliva production and is good for your teeth.
4. Drink room temperature beverages whenever possible. Very hot and very cold beverages will depress your enzyme production and can lead to adrenal exhaustion.
5. Try not to drink coffee with your meals. Its high acidity level causes the stomach to flush out the contents prior to proper assimilation.
6. Try to eat something raw at each meal. Raw foods have enzymes that help boost your digestion process. If you are eating mostly cooked and processed food, you might benefit by taking a food enzyme product.
7. Take a probiotic supplement. Probiotics are the "friendly" bacteria necessary for good colon health and they aid in the digestion and assimilation of nutrients. They can protect you from diarrhea when you travel or help with constipation as well. Always take a probiotic after taking antibiotics, which completely deplete and destroy our friendly flora.
I have used these tips for the last year now and I can honestly say that I enjoy eating again because I no longer suffer from poor digestion. If you still suffer after trying these tips for a couple of weeks, consult your health care provider for more suggestions. Bon Appetit!
