Eye Health

Eye diseases like cataract, glaucoma, detached retina or myopia all come from weakness and inflammation in the tissues that compose and surround the eye. Most doctors don't really know what to say to you on how to improve your eye health. They don't know how you can strengthen and protect your eyes from becoming disease or if you have an eye disease how to improve your condition.

In 1985, I developed detached retina in my right eye and my left eye had weakness.

The day I went to the eye specialist in Palo Alto to see why part of my vision was dark, I didn't go home for 3 day. The very moment the doctor examine my eyes, he said "You need to go to the hospital right now and have surgery tonight." Was I scared? Definitely!

Was the surgery a success? Yes it was. But not until I went through a 5 hour laser surgery procedure, had a needle pushed into my eye as I looked straight at it, and had an in house laser procedure of 50 pulses.

Months later I asked my eye doctor what I could do to improve my eye health and to keep them strong. There was silence and my question was never answered. He just didn't know.
Since that time, I become a nutritionist and have learn many things about keeping eyes healthy and I plan to write an e-report so that I can pass that information on to many of you that want to avoid losing your good eye sight as you become older.

Right now I want to give you only one thing you can do for your eye health. I want to give you a formula on how you can make your own eye drops made out of MSM. As you recall in the last newsletter, I mentioned MSM eye drops that you can use it in your ears to keep them flexible. Well, MSM eye drops are the best drops you can use in your eyes to:

- strengthen them
- prevent glaucoma
- prevent cataract,
- keep them young
- dissolve mucus accumulation
- keep your eyes moist
- correct dryness
- relieve strain
- relieve red eye
- clear up pink eye
- clear up sties
- clears up eye infections
- tie up free damaging free radical
- tie up destructive proteins

The best part about MSM eye drops is that they are not addictive like many of the eye drops that you find at the drug store.

Look, can you ask any more of this eye drop solution? Yes you can. The second best part about MSM eye drops is that they are really cheap. You can buy it already make for around $5. Of course, you only get one ounce. The shipping cost more than the product.
Here's what I buy when I make it myself:

- a 2 or 4 ounce brown eye dropper bottle
 - torpedo MSM tablets of 1000 mg per tablet
 - saline solution that I use for my contact lens and that's it.

Here's how to make it:

- Boil the eye dropper bottle with stem and rubber top for 10 minute
- After boiling, rinse out the inside of the bottle, stem, and rubber cap with distilled water.
- Fill the bottle with 80% saline solution.
- Add two to four MSM torpedoes making it 2000 to 4000 mg.
- Let the MSM dissolve and it's ready for use.

Only one warning, just start with only two torpedoes. Then test it on your eye by dropping one drop into your eye. You will feel a little bit of a sting. Keep adding a torpedo until the sting is not too severe or to slight. I use 4 torpedoes since I am use to the sting. I also add a drop of 98% Aloe Vera gel, since aloe has an antibacterial property and it promotes cell regeneration. Of course, adding aloe makes it sting more but this will not damage your eye. Just go slow and add mall amount of aloe until you get the effect you can live with.

This is a real nice eye drop and excellent for your eye health. It is best to make it yourself, since it can be done when ever you need it. I use it all the time before I put my contacts lens, when I have my contacts on, and after I take them off. Have fun doing this and if you have children show them what you are doing.

health care

Universal health care seems to be a hotly debated topic whenever health care reform in the United States is discussed.

Those who maintain that health is an individual responsibility do not want a system that requires them to contribute tax dollars to support fellow citizens who do not act responsibly in protecting or promoting their own health. They argue that they want the freedom to choose their own physicians and treatments, and suggest that government cannot know what is best for them.  These people argue that preserving the current system with improvements to provide better insurance coverage for citizens who remain uninsured or under insured for their medical care needs is the only reform that is needed.

Those who believe health care is an individual right support a universal health care system with the argument that every citizen deserves to have access to the right care at the right time and that a government's responsibility is to protect its citizens, sometimes even from themselves.

Two opposing arguments arising from two opposing ideologies.  Both are good arguments but neither can be the supporting argument for implementing or denying universal health care.  The matter must be resolved through an ethical framework.

Examination of the ethical issues in health care reform would require consideration of much different arguments  than those already presented.   Ethical issues would center on the moral right.  Discussion would begin with not "What is best for me?" but rather  "How should we as a
society be acting so that our actions are morally correct?"

Ethics refers to determining right and wrong in how humans relate to one another.  Ethical decision making for health care reform then would require human beings to act in consideration of our relationships to each other not our own individual interests.

Examination of some of the common ethical decision making theories can provide a foundation for a different perspective than one that is solely concerned  with individual rights and freedoms.
Ethical decision making requires that specific questions be answered in order to decide on whether intended actions are good or morally correct.  Here are some questions that could be used in ethical decision making for health care reform.
  • What action will bring the most good to the most people?
  • What action in and of itself is a good act and helps us to fulfill our duties, obligations, and responsibilities to each other?
  • What action in and of itself shows caring and concern for all citizens?
As the answer to all  these questions, universal health care can always be considered the right thing to do.

The United States is in the most advantageous position there is when it comes to health care reform.  They are the only developed country without a national health care system in place for all citizens.  They have the opportunity to learn from the mistakes that have been made by all the other countries that have already gone down the universal health care road. They have an opportunity to design a system that can shine as a jewel in the crown of universal health care systems everywhere.

However, all ethical decision making is structured around values.  In order for universal health care to be embraced by all citizens in the United States, they will first have to agree to the collective value of equity and fairness and embrace the goal of meeting their collective responsibility to each other while maintaining individual rights and freedoms. That may prove to be the most difficult obstacle of all.

Healthy Lifestyle

By Glenn Cutforth

It's almost impossible these days to avoid all the experts who preach about the benefits of healthy living. Since most of these so-called experts are trying to sell you something, they're easier to dismiss. Seniors should especially try to see through the gimmicks being presented as health advice, however, there is an important message contained in these sales pitches in that everyone should make an effort to stay healthy no matter what their age. By doing this, the quality of your life will continue to improve, even well into your senior years.

The simple fact is that maintaining your health has a lot to do with moderation. There is no point getting obsessive about trying to get healthy when you reach a certain age as this could take all of the enjoyment out of your life. If you have a bad habit you know isn't good for you, try to reduce rather than remove it completely from your life and being miserable all the time. There are specific key areas you should pay particular attention to as a senior if you want to stay healthy:

Exercise: It's recommended that seniors do at least an hour of exercise every week. This can be divided into six ten minute sessions, or three twenty minute sessions and so on. This hour of exercise will give your muscles and joints a work out to help them stay supple and flexible, and reduce the risk of arthritis or stiff joints. Exercise gets your blood pumping, helps boost your immune system and keeps diseases and illnesses at bay, allowing you to enjoy many healthy senior years.

Nutrition: Diet is going to be even more important for seniors than anyone else. Diabetes is a common illness among seniors and must be controlled by diet. Other illnesses, from osteoporosis and arthritis, can also be controlled by a careful diet plan. Though these ailments can't be cured with a healthy diet, the condition a senior's body is in can make a big difference. Maintaining a diet of nutritious, wholesome meals will help seniors gain enough strength to fight off their effects.

Smoking: Everyone knows by now about the dangers of tobacco, yet there are still many seniors who smoke. Since seniors are more vulnerable to breathing difficulties, it's advisable to consider quitting if you still smoke. There are ways a senior can find help if they choose to do so, including clinics, medications and counseling sessions. However, if you've decided not to quit, then it's advisable to at least cut down. Illnesses associated with smoking include lung cancer, pneumonia and poor circulation, so you should ask yourself if it's really worth the health risk the next time you light up.

Alcohol: Consuming alcohol is fine, as long as it's done in moderation. Health guidelines say that men shouldn't consume more than two units of alcohol a day, and women should limit themselves to one. A unit equals a glass of wine or beer, or a shot of liquor. Some types of alcohol, such as red wine, are considered healthier than others. However, any type of alcohol can contribute to certain cancers and liver disease, so consume alcohol carefully.

Medical Checkups: Seniors are advised to get regular health checks, including blood pressure, sight and hearing exams. Blood glucose should also be tested to catch any sign of diabetes at an early stage. Some doctors also do a urine test to ensure their patients are in good health.

Nothing in life is more precious than your health and seniors should pay even more attention to theirs. Seniors are vulnerable to the effects of ill health and should make more of an effort to look after themselves than other age groups. Trying to stay healthy will probably prolong your life and will certainly improve the quality, regardless of how many years you have left

Healthy Living

Am able to recollect a number of quotes and proverbs about health. The most oft quoted is "Health is Wealth."

Absolute truth! Taking care of your health is as or even more important than taking care of your
wealth.

It is a fact that preferences and habits differ among individuals and the factors that contribute to your preferences and habits are the society you live in, your upbringing, the geography of your domicile etc. The most deciding factor is your mental make-up, which is unique to each individual. An individual lives according to his/her own preferences and form habits. Healthy living can be achieved without compromising any of your preferences or habits. The trick would be to choose the best of those preferences and habits, add a good dose of established
practices and lead a lifestyle that is ideal and healthy.

Sentience is what separates humans from other forms of life on earth. By saying that, the allusion is, being human we should use that awareness to achieve the best in our life. Am fully aware that Utopia is an impossibility, the reason for elaborating on the personal preferences and mental make up in the earlier paragraph. The emphasis is on healthy living, the reason and the means to it.

While surfing internet, I came across the definition of health in Wikipedia. It stated that quote: At the creation of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948, Health was defined as being a "state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". unquote. That means health is not just absence of physical ill health but a complete state of well-being. We are aware that mental and social well-being is dependent on external factors and may not be fully in our control. Where as, physical health (barring hereditary, degenerative or malignant maladies) is.

Healthy living does not involve Herculean effort but just basic attentiveness and precautions. Food habits, hygiene, physical exercise and rest, if properly taken care of, will go a long way in maintaining physical health and a comfortable living. I have observed that hygiene is a frequent lapse that lead to a number of maladies. Washing your hands before eating, physical cleanliness, clean clothes etc. will help in keeping many infectious diseases away. Diet, though mostly dependent on your upbringing and social background, can be adjusted to provide optimum nourishment without compromising taste and preferences. Taste can be acquired. I personally relish bitter gourd preparations, which is an acquired taste.

Physical activity is another deficiency in our sedentary life styles. If not a constitutional morning walk, we can find opportunities in our daily life to exercise. Dusting your apartment will provide some physical exercise and keep the place clean. Walking up the stairs instead of using the elevator will save electricity and reduce your carbon footprint (a pun! but a fact)

The last but not the least, rest. A must do for recharging our batteries. It goes without saying that sleep is the best form of rest and if possible, with least help from sleep inducing substances. A fully loaded slumber will not provide the rest your body needs. It does not help you recharge your mental batteries. An early dinner, a good walk and a glass of hot milk would do the trick for people with minor sleeping problems. This may not be a cure for insomnia but can be of help to some extent.

Mental and social well-being is also important, but as I stated earlier, they are mostly dependent on external factors. Avoiding aggression, for example - road rage, can contribute to your mental as well as society's well-being. We also have some proven methods to better mental health. Practicing meditation, prayer, yoga etc. can really help. Religions were founded or have evolved for the social and mental well-being of the human kind.

belly fat

Posted by syed amer abbass 0 comments

By Steve Chaballa

Are you looking to change the shape of your body or trying to lose belly fat without joining a high priced gym? If so, try this high energized cardiovascular fitness routine that that was developed by Keli Roberts.

With this 10 minute exercise routine you can burn up to 150 calories every single day.

The first two minutes of this fat burning routine is: Jump Rope - Begin by performing two jumps for each turn of the rope. Safety: Use the correct size jump rope and always land softly on the balls of your feet (that is the upper part of the bottom of your foot). Keep thinking I am losing weight.

Minutes two to three: Squat Thrust into a Push Up. The proper technique for this exercise is to stand with your feet shoulder width apart and your arms strait down next to your sides. Slowly squat down with your head forward and bring your hands to the floor just outside of your feet. Your hands should be pointing forward as well. Then in one movement, push your legs back and out behind you (into a pushup position). Perform one strict pushup and then jump back into your squat position and then stand back up. Keep thinking, the fat is vanishing.

Minutes three to four: Jump Rope with only one jump per turn. Keep thinking, The fat is melting away.

Minutes four to five: Back to the Squat Thrust and Push Up only this time you are going to add the Side Plank. After completing your squat thrust and push up, you are going to lift and rotate your left arm off of the ground and over your head. Your left foot will rotate and rest on top of you right foot. And you will rotate your neck so you are looking up at your ceiling. Rotate back to the center and repeat on the other side. When finished, hop back into your squat position, stand up and start again. Keep thinking, no more belly.

Minutes five and six: Jump Rope. Same as minutes three and four. keep thinking, I am losing body fat.

Minutes six and seven: Back to the Squat Thrust and Push Up only this time you are going to add the Leg Lift. This is the same as minutes two and three only this time you will lift the toes of one foot about twelve inches off of the ground only after you have performed your push up. Lower your foot and repeat on the other side. Hop back up to your squat position, stand up, and start again. Keep thinking, goodbye belly.

Minutes seven and eight: Jump Rope. Same as minutes three and four. Keep thinking, my belly is getting smaller.

Minutes eight and nine: Back to the Squat Thrust and Push Up only this time you are going to add Mountain Climbers. Repeat everything as in minutes two and three only this time after your push up, you will quickly jog in place from your push up position. Make sure you bring your knees up to your chest on each rotation. Perform 5 jogs and repeat this entire process. Keep thinking, I am going to lose weight.

Minutes nine and ten: Jump Rope. Same as you first two minutes. Keep thinking. If I do this everyday, I will lose belly fat. Good luck to everyone.

We recommend using a soft padding such as a yoga mat when performing this exercise. This will cut down on any injury and save some of those knee joints for you. If you need more information on gym mats and yoga mats, please visit Ultimate Fitness Equipment - for all of your fitness needs.
